What Causes Stabbing Pain And Numbness In Eyes While Treating Toxoplasmosis With Antibotic?

Question: hi I was diagnosed with reactive toxoplasmosis in XXXXXXX and I have been to two different retina specialist who all they had me taking was antibotics and steroids. I started seeing the second doctor because I felt it was not getting better with the first doctor and I was not one same treatment as 9 years ago when I first had toxoplasmosis, so after seeing second doctor I was on antibotics he weaned me off the steroids because he told me I was on them to long , when I went to him in October my vision is the coner of left eye was shaded out he told me that would get better in time and set me to see him in XXXXXXX but told me toxoplasmosis was not active anymore, well two weeks before me appointment date for XXXXXXX I started with eye pain blurred vision and now the shaded area was in the center of vision , I went to doctor appointment and he referred me to neuro optamoligist so here I am waiting on that appointment , I'm sorry for making this so long just trying to give as best as I can to get a better idea of what could be going on. I get pains behind the eye feels like a stabbing pain and at times also feels like someone is squeezing my eye itself but at the same time my eye itself feels numb which sounds crazy I am sure I don't know how else to explain that other than when I blink I can feel it in my right eye but not my left eye . my left eye feels like its barley there . I know this is a lot of info but if u can help guide me in any kind of direction as to what could be going on I would appreciate it very much thanks

thanks for sending your query to us.
You have toxoplasmosis and the treatment is sulfa drugs and in case if active inflammation is present, oral steroids are given.
As the chorio retinitis heals at times it may leave a scar on the retina.
Do not worry. Your report suggests that you are being treated well. The treatment is to last long Continue with treatment till you see the neurologist. The vision will improve with treatment. Probably steroids have to be continued.
Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.

My dear,

As there is some inflammation remaining that has to be taken care of. Best anti inflammatory drug is steroid, which is to be taken under guidance as it has some major issues.
It is not a bad idea to go to some other specialist and give it another try. Such 4 hourly medication takes care of pain but doesn't control the disease.

You are to be re evaluated to assess the situation. Toxoplasmosis is a difficult problem to control, that is no reason to neglect the issue.
Contact another specialist to control the condition. In toxoplasmosis so much of discomfort is not there after so long with treatment. Do get a second opinion, any further query in this regard please do get back to me
