What Causes Stabbing Pain While Breathing And Gurgling Under Ribs?
Question: I have either fluid or wind around my right rib cage and it gets to the point where I go to breathe and it hurts with a stabbing pain in my right side like it is catching on something. When I breathe it is like it is bubbling or gurgling around my ribs. I've been told to drink peppermint tea but this does not help and at times the pain is quite severe.

Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Your symptoms can be caused by gallstones, stomach issues like an ulcer or rib nerve problem.
Gallstones usually give a pain after a meal. Nausea is usually present. The pain can radiate to the back.
Stomach pain is also associated with foods intake but there is no back radiation.
Rib nerve pain is well localized, sharp pain. Ot has nothing to do with foods intake and no nausea is present. The pain is more intense when breathing. Rib nerve pain can be caused by spine problems.
Depending of the most probable reason you should have an ultrasound, gastroscope or spine MRI.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards

I should have said I have already had my gallbladder removed. It's not the stomach and the bubbling I think is more gas then rib nerve so not sure where to go from here.

Well if you are completely sure that its a gas, you should have your large intestine checked. Some lump in the large intestine can cause partial bowels obstruction and gas feeling. Colonoscopy is necessary in such case.
