What Causes Sternum Pain In A Person With Tortuous Esophagus?

Question: I was told by my doctor that my esophagus is not straight, but is curvy, like a winding road back and forth. I sometimes have a sharp pain just below my sternum when I eat something, that makes me bloat, and gag. Is this related to the shape of my esophagus?

Treatment is limited and usually started with medications such as antacids, proton pump inhibitors, diet. You should eat smaller meals but more often, eat more liquid food, avoid, coffee, alcohol and fried food. Extended chewing, staying upright after meals may help as well.
