What Causes Sticky Stool In Infant?
I would not worry about the consistency of stool
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Before trying to answer your question I would need to know a couple of things. Please mention:
* if the child is exclusively breast feed or whether the child is formula fed.
* whether there has been any recent change in diet.
* the colour of stool passed.
If the child is exclusively breast fed, you need not worry. The child may pass stool once in 10 days or 10 times a day and both are equally normal and not something to worry about. If the child is active and passing urine adequately, I would not worry about the consistency of stool irrespective of the type of feed the baby gets. If the urinary frequency is reduced, I would insist on increasing the amount of breast feeds given. The colour may vary from greenish to yellow and is not a cause for concern.
For the cold, unless the child grows lethargic or starts wheezing, you need not worry. The cold is unlikely to be related to the stool consistency. Give nasoclear nasal drop (saline nasal drops) 1 or 2 drops in each nostril a few times a day. It will help in removing any nose block. You can give steam inhalation. Just sit with the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. Water in form of steam will in in the air and will be breathed in. It will reach deep inside and will help in diluting the cough.
Cymbi drops contain Simethicone which would help in removing any abdominal distention which could be present if the child has unexplained crying. Unless that is the case, it does not need to be given.
Hope that helps.
And also let me know which should be the weight of the baby which is born on march 12 2015.
Greenish stools in a baby of this age are normal and not anything to worry

Thanks for writing back.
Greenish stools are caused due to rapid transit through the large intestines where the green pigments of bile do not get enough time to get converted to the yellow pigment that normally colours our stool. It is normal and not a cause of concern in a baby of this age. If the child is breast fed, there is no slightest cause to worry. Just give breast feeding more frequently than usual. That would be enough for the child to gain weight. You can give Bifilac but that is optional. No other medicine needs to be given for the same.
Breast milk is produced as per the demands of the baby and the composition varies to suit the requirements of the baby. A healthy and wholesome diet for your wife is all she needs. Nothing specific. The breast milk composition would be determined on its own depending upon the health of the baby.
Steam and nasoclear and absolutely fine to be given to a child of this age. You need not worry.
For the proper projection of weight of the baby, the weight needs to be taken every three months and plotted on a growth chart that is proper for his age and sex. If the trajectory follows the lines of the chart, you need not worry. Tracing the trajectory will give you the projected weight for a particular age.
Stay relaxed.

It could be occurring due to nasal blockage.Tears drain into the nose.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back again.
I do not think that the watering is due to dust or something else. In many newborns, the opening of the nasolacrymal duct is not developed and there might be issues with the normal draining of tears. Tears drain into the nose internally through the nasolacrymal duct. In case of cold, the condition might be aggravated due to the nasal block, clearing which will relieve the watering of the eyes. In the meantime, gently stroke with a finger starting from the inner angle of the eye downward to the ala of nose (nostril). Continue to do this a few times a day and it should be fine.
