Brief answer....the cause needs to be identified.
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
There can be various reasons for this problem and the cause has to be identified ,so that the proper treatment can be instituted, although in 50% cases, the cause is difficult to find.
Various causes include....
Anxiety and depression
Various deficiencies like iron,FOLIC acid,B complex vitamins etc
Diseases like diabetes and hypothyroidism
Alcoholism and smoking ( not relevant in your case )
Oral fungal infection
Poor dentures
Reflux disorder ( GERD )
Medications like diuretics ( thiazides ),anti hypertensive medications like ACE inhibitors
Rarely disease like cancer,HIV etc.
You need to be properly examined physically as well as blood investigations done.
If cause is found out, then removal of cause would relieve the problem, otherwise antidepressants and B complex vitamins are given as part of general treatment.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
