What Causes Stomach Cramps And Diarrhea After Taking Diet Supplement Sensa?

Question: I took the diet supplement sensa in september of 2013 for two months. I began to get horrible stomach cramping, diarreah, feeling of flu like symptoms for the next following three months after i started taking sensa. I stopped taking it, and in january 2014 finally felt better. Even still the last six months I have had on and off stomach/digestion issues with bouts of diarreah and unwell feelings. I have improved somewhat with periods of decent health, but then become susceptible to this again. I really believe the sensa threw off my system, and now i don't know what to do or how to heal it. Do you have any suggestions?
Brief Answer:
If it does not suit you keep away
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in
Unfortunately I do not know what Sensa contains but with 27 years of experience as a Surgical Gastroentrologist I have had some instances of patients coming with the symptoms you have mentioned after taking diet supplements
I have always been of the opinion that you should see your healthcare consultant before going for any of these supplements oor OTC Products
Did the symptoms start immediately after taking Sensa ?
Did you have any other manifestations other than digestive system ?
Please take a snap of the contents on the jar and I will be in a better position to help

Thank you for your response. Sensa is made up of "supposedly" GRAS (generally recognized as safe) ingredients which include Tricalcium Phosphate Maltodextrin Silica Carmine Natural and Artificial Flavors FD&C Yellow 5, but i believe it might be the toxic combination of these that cause such trouble for some people. Online there are hundreds of people with similar health issues after taking sensa, so something is really not right about their combination. I also don't believe they list all their ingredients. I did not have these episodes before taking sensa. I have always been a bit sensitive with my digestive tract and stress, for example might occasionally have a little distress from nerves, but nothing like this. I feel like my system has maybe been thrown out of balance? Do you think taking a probiotic would help? So far no other symptoms outside my stomach/digestion. What do you recommend people to if they have their digestive tract thrown off my chemicals/combinations of a diet supplement? Thank you in advance, XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Word Of Caution : Do not use OTC Medications
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your followup
I would just suggest you do not take any product not approved by FDA
Looking at the contents, Yes I do not find it harmful, but as you said they might not be listing all the contents, I browsed online and found it had other molecules also
Any way just keep away and take a good probiotic twice a day for three to four weeks, it will for sure help restore the healthy bacteria needed for GI tract
Hope this helps
