What Causes Stomach Pain After Giving Ofloxacin For Green Stools?
Question: Hi Sir,, My baby is only 2 months old n having green stool,, Doctor advised to take ofloxacin oral suspension. But after giving to my baby he is reacting like getting pain in stomach or feeling nervous.. I am worried please suggest is it still safe to continue with Ofloxacin syrup for my baby

Acute enteritis is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days.
Antibiotic is to be given in case of bacterial infection.
Green colour of stools is due to rapid transition
I suggest you to stop antibiotic.
Give probiotic XXXXXXX twice a day.
If such patient will come to me I will give colicaid drops 8 twice a day for relief of colic.
Continue with breastfeeding.
Watch for his activity/urine output/feeding pattern.
In case symptoms persist you can get him examined by another pediatrician for further management.

As per ur advice, you are suggesting to stop antibiotic. So do you mean taking ofloxacin is not safe for my baby.
I will continue giving the probiotic XXXXXXX "Zeegut-Z".
Kindly suggest what to do next if stool is not getting stop.
My baby is urinate a lot. around 25-30 times day, Is it normal or any problem is there.

I did not mean the antibiotic is unsafe. As I mentioned antibiotic is given in case of bacterial infection and mostly enteritis is viral in nature. I would consider a stool examination if loose motions persist before prescribing antibiotics.
As urine frequency is on higher side urine examination is also suggested.
