Question: I'm having stomach problems, it was mentioned that poor blood flow to the stomach could cause, pain, unable to eat anything more than broth. How does the blood get to the stomach. I have had 3 stents installed in my heart 3 years ago. Now they mentioned that I might need a stent if blood is restricted going to the stomach

Brief Answer:
Blood gets to the heart through arteries called mesenteric arteries.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty feeding. The fact that you have been unable to eat and have had stents in the past suggest you could also have a compromised blood flow to the stomach. Blood gets to the stomach through arteries. There are two major arteries, the upper and the lower mesenteric arteries.

You will need to have imaging of the arteries to see if they are blocked and if so where to be precise. If this diagnosis is arrived at, then in the same manner that you had a heart stent put in place, you will also get one put into the artery supplying the intestines.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
