What Causes Stomach Pain And Nausea?

Question: Yes,thank you,I've been having stomach ache and nausea for some time, does this have anything to do with my spleen, it's almost impossible to get answers from my p.m.as they take holidays more than a patient. I just called ,not in today, she has me seeing a gasterinterologist in Nov. But I continue to have this problem with no answers, my email is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you.

It is not likely related to the spleen. The spleen functions to : (1)help in the production of chemicals involved in the immune system (2) stores red blood cells and (3)also helps remove bacteria from the body

Persistent nausea and pain can be related to: (1)visceral conditions- disease of the internal organs such as

GERD- gastroesophageal reflux
Obstruction of the bowel
Gallbladder disease
Hepatitis-inflammation of the liver
Urinary tract infection- would have additional symptoms

(2)Metabolic/toxic disease- This includes

Side effect of medication
Alcohol use
High levels of calcium in the body
Uncontrolled diabetes
Kidney disease

(3)central nervous system disease- disease of the brain and spinal cord

Vertigo
Mass in the brain

(4)psychiatric origin

To determine the cause would require a careful history, physical examination and blood tests. Additional imaging such as CT may also be needed.

Tests would include - urine analysis, blood tests for calcium, liver function, full blood count, urea (goes up in kidney disease)

IF it not possible to have this done prior to your visit with the gastroenterologist then you may want to consider the use of an antiemetic till that time.
This is a medication that helps with nausea and/or vomiting.

Eg would be dramamine

Thank you, I've had the blood tests,plus urine, all came back normal,except for a slight shadow, they said on my liver, but was told it was not cancer, but was directed to the gastro for an appoint. Which is not till next month, mean time I still have the stomach and nausea problem, the local p.m. Is not in today and of course, the nurse seems the only one to answer my concern, so that's why I came on line, sorry this is so long, not used to doing this. Thanks again.
