What Causes Stomach Upset After Quitting Alcohol?

Question: I drank heavily for the past two weeks on account of new year and christmas. I haven't had a drink in the past two days and pledged to cut down on my drinking. I hit the gym for an hour and a half and didnt drink after coming back. Been doing this for the past two days. The problem is that since leaving drinking, I have had an upset stomach. Also, yesterday evening (I generally defecate after workout) and today morning, I had blood in my stool. Bright red. I have had experience with hemorrhoids but that during those days I had blood in my stool if drank too much, ate too little and didnt sleep enough. Why is there blood in my stool when I am doing things right?

The symptoms of the query are mostly suggestive of deficiency of clotting factors. This is a common occurrence on people who have alcohol. The idea is to continue the good work and wait. The damage done or nor going to go off by just 2 day's good habits.

Stick to it. Also the bleeding per rectum is possibly due to hemorrhoids. And that's not going to go away by good work out or stopping alcohol.

It needs continued avoidance of alcohol and good diet including high fiber diet and plenty of fluids. Surgery may be needed sometimes.
Meantime I suggest you do seitz bath twice a day.
