What Causes Stomach Upset In The Morning?

Question: MY WIFE HAS HAD AN UPSET STOMACHE SINE SHE WOKE UO THIS MORNING, AND USUALLOY EVRY MORNING. WHEN SHE SAW HER DOCTOR TWO DAYS AGO, AND HE PRESCRIBED CELEBREX. SHE GOT THE RX FILLED, BUT IS AFRAID TO TAKE IT BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF SIDE EFFECTS LISTED. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST I CAN DO FOR HER. HER AGE IS 82.

Appreciate your concern for your wife's health.
If she has an abdominal pain every morning when she gets up, it is likely to be an acid related problem like gastritis, doudenitis or an ulcer.
You should show her to a gastroenterologist and get an upper GI endoscopy done to know the cause.
Celebrex is a good medicine for a musculoskeletal pain, which may not be the cause for her abdominal symptoms.
While you are waiting for the appointment, she can have an antacid like Gaviscon available OTC or if that does not give good relief, a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole for symptomatic relief.
