What Causes Stomachache In A Child After Having Pomegranate?

my 3 1/2 yr old ate pomegranate two days ago and started to complain about stomach pain right away. after that, he threw up maybe 3-4 times. later on, there was a mild fever and he tends to have diarrhea.
yesterday morning, i noticed rashes around his eyes/slightly to the side of the temple.
do you think that this may be an allergic reaction or is it more serious?
Could be mostly allergy or unrelated diarrhea
Detailed Answer:
Hi...there are 2 possibilities. 1st is allergic reaction to pomegranate, if you are giving it for the 1st time. Other possibility is it could be a viral diarrhea unrelated to pomegranate intake. But with rash developing around eyes I prefer the 1st possibility most.
Seriouness depends on the clinical symptoms. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting or stridor or respiratory distress...you need not worry.
I suggest you use zinc supplements & ORS...do not give fruit juices as it might aggravate diarrhea.

Could be a viral diarrhea then
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
By what you quote, this seems like a viral diarrhea itself.
Please be on look out for the danger signs I have already mentioned.
Loss of appetite is classical in diarrhea. But too much of sweets and sugar can aggravate diarrhea. Cereals are good in diarrheal episodes.

Wait for it to settle please
Detailed Answer:
Hi...nothing needs to be done now. It will take sometime for the diarrhea to completely stop. It might take 4-5 days. Do not worry. Continue zinc supplements as I suggested.

He will recover - wait doing nothing
Detailed Answer:
Yes please.
But in your country if it is a prescription drug, you need have a prescription for it.
Otherwise oneire suggestion is that, as he's already recovering, running and playing around, I suggest you wait without doing anything more further.
He will recover by himself, do not worry. No need to go to a doctor for zinc supplements prescription.
