Brief Answer:
High ketones in your urine

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are concerned about a change in the smell of your urine. It is possible that the change is due to an increase in ketones in your urine. This happens when you are trying to loss weight and burn more calories. The fat and amino acids as they are burned off create ketones in the urine. I recommend that you increase your fluid intake and also add more carbohydrates.

The other reason for increased ketones is early diabetes. If you have a history of diabetes your blood sugars could be out of control and that would also increase ketones.

To best determine what is going on I recommend that you see your medical provider and have blood and urine tests completed. Once you have the information you will be better able to remedy the situation.
