Brief Answer: Quinsy. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. Such strong pain while swallowing is most likely caused by quinsy due to bacterial infection of the throat. You should be able to see red and enlarged tonsils in your throat with possible white stuff on it. Fever, abdominal pain, nausea can be also present. Bloating can be related to this infection, however it may also indicate some bowels problems. As you are over 50, every abdominal symptom needs to be checked with possible colon cancer. Especially if you have also blood in stool, weight loss, constipation. I suggest you to visit your doctor. Antibiotic should be prescribed for throat infection. If after antibiotic course, bloating wont go away, you should have colonoscopy done. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
