What Causes Stuff Nose And Difficulty In Breathing With Pneumonia?

Not necessarily sinus infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
No, I don't think you have a sinus infection unless you also have symptoms of thick and yellow nasal discharge from nose with or without headache.
Difficulty in breathing through nose in pneumonia may not necessarily indicate sinus infection. Pneumonia is often accompanied by a congested mucosa in the upper respiratory tract (nose, sinuses) too, leading to nasal stuffiness. This itself can cause difficulty in nose breathing even without active infection of the sinus.
Your eosinophil count is elevated. It implies you may have an allergic condition or worm infestation. You can discuss this with your treating doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions, I will be happy to help.
Thank you.

Hello dear,
I mind your concerns.
You are getting recurrent episodes of respiratory tract infections.
When I face such patients with recurrent throat infection in my clinic,I recommend them to take any fruits(but not cold) other than to which they are allergic/hypersensitive,and avoid any cold/refrigerated items including cold juices and ice creams.Warm drinks and food items are better for such cases.Warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day might be helpful. Most of the time,it is the coldness, and not the fruit as such that is causing problem. In such people, the mucosa is hypersensitive to cold, initiating infection and inflammation.
And,your longstanding left sided nasal obstruction may be due to some reversible condition like deviated nasal septum. You can discuss this with an ENT surgeon.
Hope you got cleared now.If you have no further questions, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
Thank you..

Hello dear,
I will try to clarify your doubts one by one.
1)Your nose is mucus filled most of the times:This indicates allergic rhinitis(this may be the reason for your increased eosinophil count),caused by an hyper reactive nasal mucosa. For such patients in my clinic,I ask them to continue antihistaminics like levocetirezine+montelukast, particularly during the vulnerable season. You can discuss this with your doctor.
Also, avoid cold/dusty atmosphere.Avoid bike ride without a full helmet.Avoid travelling in the side seats of open car/bus/train.
2)About fruits:If you had taken a fruit sometime before with out trouble,it means you are not allergic to them. You can take them(but not cold/refrigerated).There is no specific tests(except for skin allergy in condact dermatitis) to know what things we are allergic to;we just find it out by trial and error.
3)During pnuemonia,you avoid dusty,cold,crowded,poorly ventilated areas.
Cover mouth and nose on cough/sneeze to protect others.
These precuations you can continue indefinitely to prevent frequent relapses.
4)In upper jaw surgery,I think, nasal passages and sinuses are not altered. So in my opinion,it will not increase the problem. You can discuss this in detail with your OMFS surgeon.
If you have no further questions, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.Thank you.
