What Causes Sudden And Intense Pain In The Elbow?
Question: I have pain in my right elbow...It came on suddenly..I can hardly move my arm,with out pain..I am 77 years old and have arthritis every where..lol I was painting walls but that was a week before this started,,It has been going on for 4 days now..I am puting ice on it as it is a bit swollen..It helps some..there is no brusing.I am also takeing Ibuphrofen..What the hay???

If the elbow is swollen, hot to touch and you have pain when you move the joint , it is very possibly to be an arthritis episode.
In this case, I would recommend to keep applying ice on it, taking Ibuprofen ( i.e. 400 mg three times a day after food). In this case, it would be recommendable to take Cap Pantoprazole/ Omeprazole 20mg twice daily (before breakfast & dinner) for the stomach (Ibuprofen can cause Gastritis or stomach ulcer).
If it doesn't get better in few days , then Corticosteroids like Prednisolone would be the next step.
I would recommend you to see your physician and get your arm examined. An X-ray of the joint would be helpful for the diagnosis.
