What Causes Sudden Dizziness, Increased Intracranial Pressure, Nausea And Vomiting?

default
Posted on Thu, 21 Jul 2016
Question: I felt suddenly very light-headed and had to lay down. When I got up to go to bed an hour later I was barely able to stand upright and felt very dizzy and nauseous and some began vomiting up much of th dinner I had just eaten. After cleaning up I got into bed and slept soundly for 8 hours. I got up this morning still feeling a bit light-headed and very hungry. I take blood pressure medication to keep my pressure down in a safe range. Before going to bed my temperature was (6 degree, but I was sweating and felt chills. I am receiving chemotherapy for glioblastoma brain cancer, but have not received a treatment for 2 weeks The chemo leaves me very dyhrated so I always carry a bottle of water with me.. I am undergoing oral surgery for implants and am in generally good health. I eat a very healthy fruit, veggie , fish and whole grain diet.
Yesterday for breakfast I mixed yogurt with whet germ, flax and chia seed with fruit, ((raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) bananas, kiwi and XXXXXXX which had been in the refrigerator in a sealed container for about 2 days. This mixture of fruit and yogurt was covered with Great Grains9(a type of granola) and honey. I brought what was left over with me to my office and eat half of it for lunch along with a sandwich of almond butter and sugar-free blueberry jam on who grain bread.. For dinner I had past and shrimp. The shrimp had been frozen and the sauce was made with fresh tomatoes and other vegetables.

Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it can be a small episode of food poisoning due to some contaminated food intake. Their is quite a variety of foods you have mentioned there, and it is difficult to pin point the exact one possible but one thing is good that your are keeping up with good and a balanced diet and that will indirectly help with the chemo and combating your other health issues. Poosibility of meningitis recurrence at this time is too early but still a detailed review with your primary would be helpful to be looked for the early signs of me meningitis or other sequelae of brain issue of glioblastoma and a fundoscopy examination might he helpful to look for any signs of increased intracranial pressure as that can also cause vomitings with dizziness. Meanwhile basic blood work up like Complete blood picture and electrolytes may help to rule out any other infective or metabolic cause. Meanwhile switching to soft diets for few days and replacing the lost fluids through vomitings orally with Oral rehydration salts and water is recommended.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
