What Causes Sudden Extreme Pain Below The Rib-cage?

It started suddenly when I was ironing my clothes. It is different from the pain due to acidity or gas. What can be the possible reasons?
Earlier the diagnosis, better is treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/24 - extreme pain below rib cage - unable to move body - sudden - while ironing clothes - not like acidity or gas - wants to know the possible reasons ....
Considering the age and gender and the short history you have provided the possible reasons are:
- Gall bladder colic, particularly if on the right
- Liver pathology
- Rare causes (to mention) are pleurisy, intestinal colic particularly of colitis, pancreatitis, cardiac origin, intestinal obstruction, stomach volvulus, perforation of viscus, tubal pregnancy perforation (if married)
Please give additional history related to:
nausea, vomiting, referred pain to back or shoulder or chest or anything else that you are having or family members observe.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Report to the ER or the nearby hospital for :
Ultrasound of the abdomen
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position
Tests of blood: CBC liver function tests, amylase, lipase,
ECG, X-ray chest and so on
As per the clinical evaluation the Doctor and preferably by a General Surgeon, will give the proper diagnosis at the earliest and can plan the proper management.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

I went to doctor and has an ultrasound which showed increased pancrea size.
the pain subsided after 2-3 hours. I also got the blood checks prescribed by the doctor. Please let me know the cause of sudden pain and pancrea size increase.
As explained below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.
The causes of increase in pancreas size can be:
Viral
Bacterial
stone or temporary obstruction in the ducts of pancreas/common bile duct
Idiopathic meaning wherein it will not be possible to pin-point the cause.
Increase in size of the pancreas can cause severe pain.
Further tests of ERCP and MRCP and EUS ( endoscopic ultrasound can help to get the cause of the increase in size of pancreas.
Please get fully investigated under the cause of a Gastroenterologist.

Not having pain is a good prognosis.
