What Causes Sudden Loss Of Consciousness?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that loss of consciousness may be caused by cardiac issues as well as other alternative reasons.
As a part of cardiac issues are excluded by cardiac monitoring (which addresses potential arrhythmic events and conductance disturbances) it should be excluded also any structural heart diseases like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (with dynamic obstruction of LVOT) or aortic valve stenosis.
This may be achieved by cardiac ultrasound examination.
Other potential reasons for passing out may be neurological issues, like some forms of epilepsy, or cerebral circulation disorders like subclavian steal syndrome, or carotid sinus syndrome.
Also vaso-vagal syndrome, linked with some forms of orthostatic intolerance may be a reason for syncope.
It is necessary for a careful etiological differential diagnosis when planning an appropriate management of repeated syncope.
After excluding cerebral and cardiac structural and functional disorders explained above, provocative tests for orthostatic intolerance would be helpful.
A Head Up tilt test seems to be appropriate in this regard.
Could you explain under which conditions occurs syncope?
Do you have any known chronic health disorder?
What about actually performed medical tests?
If you provide with any concrete medical information, I could give a more direct professional opinion.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
Feel free to ask me whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
