What Causes Sudden Lower Back Pain?
Question: Sudden onset lower back pain which has lasted over a month. No trauma or injury but cannot walk for longer than 5 minutes without being in severe pain and wanting to slump forward. No pain relief with tablets, chiropractor tens machine. Reduction in pain with lidocaine patch. I am 52 and have never had back problems my name is XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Spine disc herniation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Back pain can be caused by spine problems (like spine disc herniation). In such case the pain can radiate from the back, through buttock to leg. The pain gets worse after physical activity.
Back pain can be also caused by urinary tract infection. In such case you should also have lower abdominal pain, frequent urinating, burning while urinating.
I suggest you to consult orthopedist. In case of spine problems, MRI should be done and surgery considered.
In case of urinary tract problems, urine analysis should be done at first.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
