What Causes Sudden Onset Of Loss Of Vision While Suffering From Cold In Children?

Question: My generally healthy 6 year old son is suffering from what looks like a bad cold. Started with a fever, then nasal discharge, cough, etc. We are on day 4, fever is still the same, between 38-39℃. I have not given him any medication as he seemed mildly I'll, but not miserable. He doesn't have an appetite, but has eaten a bit and I've been trying to give him lots of fluids. Last night, he woke up around 3:00am, went to the toilet, and as I was standing next to him, he said his eyes went black and couldn't see. I saw him loose his balance slightly and lifted him immediately. I went to the other room still holding him in my arms to tell my husband to wake up. Went back to the bathroom, he still said he couldn't see anything. I took him back to his bed, and it was then when he said his eyes were fine. The complete episode lasted about 1 minute. I gave him a bit of water and iboprufen to bring the fever down, it was around 39℃ when this happened. I discussed with my husband whether we should take him to the doctor, but my son interrupted the conversation and said he was tired and wanted to go to sleep. The iboprufen did bring the fever down, and he fell asleep immediately, but I'm worried about the loss of vission. Could this be related to the fever? Should I take him to the ER?
Brief Answer:
May be from fever or low blood pressure
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
the loss of vision may be from fever and related low blood pressure/ weakness. Also 4 days is a time period that can be normal for viral infections. So normally i would expect this to get better within the next 2-3 days. However, to make sure nothing gets overlookes i would still recommend to take him to the local pediatritian or ER soon to be on the safe side and rule out any bacterial complications.
Best regards
