What Causes Sudden Sharp Pain At The Back Of The Knee?

Question: 2 days ago i felt a sharp pain on the back side of the right knee area on the inner tendon when my knee was bent and i was sitting down motion at the time. now if i have my knee bent with pressure i feel the sharp pain at the tendon close to the knee joint at the back area of knee. i can walk with out feeling the pain. i can walk up stairs withoout feeling the pain. the sharp pain was present when the knee is almost fully bent. what therapy would be recommended .

A sudden sharp pain at the back of the knee is likely to be due to a muscle spasm or a mild sprain. Rest and elastic knee brace will help in providing support to the knee. Do take a mild pain killer and avoid all painful activities. Doing a hot compress will also help. You can get a muscle relaxant prescribed in case the pain is persistent.
