What Causes Sudden Weight Gain And Impaired Taste While On Protonix?

Question: I have been on protonics for a few years, for the past year or so I have developed an odd sensation, a feeling in face an lips like an allergic reaction of some kind, it seems to be getting more intense, I have also lost a lotof weight in last few years as well as lost my sense of taste, I have had numerous physicals and scans to rule out any major types of disease and I am otherwise quite healthy. Most of the docs have said that it isn't th protonics but more I read the more I am thinking it must have somthing to do wit that. What do you think, what are my options? Oh I also have a hiatel hernia, planning on having that fixed, also looking a "links" device.
Brief Answer:
trial off the Protonix
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think the best thing is to give yourself a trial off the protonix. It may be causing some sort of low level allergic reaction. it could be responsible for the odd sensation in the lips but would not explain the weight loss and loss of sense of taste. In any case I would try to use some other medication like ranitidine instead of the protonix for a while and see if the allergic type symptoms resolve.
Keep working with your doctors to try to find the cause of the weight loss and loss of taste. If you have not had an MRI of the brain then I would suggest that as a next step.
