What Causes Sudden Weight Loss After Heart Bypass Surgery?
Going into the surgery, I weighed 140 pounds. A couple of weeks after surgery, I weighed 135. Now I weigh 128. I've tried to up my intake of high-fat and high-calorie food, I certainly haven't reduced it, but there are challenges because I cannot eat high sugar foods (so no milkshakes or candy).
It's a real mystery why I'm losing weight and I'm seeking any more suggestions.
Weight loss related to another condition other than diabetes...
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting at HCM.
I went through your question carefully and I have some suggestions about what you may do to resolve this mystery.
Your weight loss may be caused by diabetes, but since your diabetes is controlled, I think that there may be other conditions causing it as well.
To clarify this, I think you should take an abdominal ultrasound, in order to check the liver, the colon and the prostate. You should also take the following tests: complete blood test (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and PSA (prostate-specific antigen).
You should also see your gastroenterohepatologist and your urologist.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.
