What Causes Sweating And Cold Post Omentectomy?
Question: Hi Dr. Rynne. My name is XXXXXXX I had ovarian cancer, found and removed in 2008. Omentum was also removed. Since then I'v had an awfull lot of healthproblems and I'm wondering if "life without omentum" could cause my problems, such as ; Sweating at intake of water, cold after warm meals, flu-like symptoms day and night, feeling VERY sleepy after as little as one slice of bread, (food for energy does in my case result in the opposite), terribly tired at all times and energy is totally lacking. Had to give up work in May 2013 and NO doctor can give me ANY explanation to my health problems. Have slowly "gone down hill" over these last years. So, my question really is; Could the removal of omentum cause such health problems?? Kind regards XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
I don't see the way that omentectomy cause it since omentum is consisted only of fatty tissue and don't have role in digestion. This may be caused by your primary malignant disease or some other resections were done during the surgery. Also, chemotherapy may have effect. I suggest to do PET scan to rule out recurrence or possible another neuroendocrine tumor. Wish you good health. Regards
