What Causes Swelling After Anal Skin Tag Removal Surgery?
Question: I had a large anal skin tag removed in office yesterday by my GP. The pain is bearable but the swelling and appearance today are quite scary. I am taking Motrin every 6 hour and used a preparation H suppository. The Dr said to expect swelling but this is much worse than I expected. Any advice?
Brief Answer:
Hot seitz bath will be helpful

Dear Ms,
Post excision swelling is quite common in anal region. I assume the tag removed was sentinel pile.
Motrin is anti-inflammatory analgesic, continue taking that. I would also suggest the following
1. Hot Seitz bath: To a tub of lukewarm water( let the water be as much hot as you can tolerate), add 2 spoons of antiseptic like dettol or salon. Sit in it immersing your bottom. The warmthness and heat will reduce the inflammatory oedema and relieve pain too.
Do send me clinical photograph for exact assessment of severity of swelling
Take Care
