What Causes Swelling And Itching In The Feet After Taking A Prednisone Shot?

Question: I'm having a bad reaction to Penicillin.. head to soles of my feet-- severe itch, major swelling and huge welts. I was given a Prednisone shot with pills if needed. The welts are better but the itching and swollen hands, knees and feet are still very bad and now my eyes are puffy. I've already tried the anti itch cremes .. but they don't help at all. The doctor recommended Benadryl but I can't take anti-histamines because my heart goes crazy. I already get palpapations so I avoid them. Is there ANY anti-histamine that doesn't effect heart? or is there ANY thing else you can recommend?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms
Benadryl ( Promethazine ) is very good indeed for wheals and urticaria , in majority of individuals they are unlikely to affect the heart > in case you are worried you can go for Cetirizine. Local application of calamine lotion will also relieve itching and used in conjunction with cetirizine will be very helpful.
