What Causes Swelling And Redness In The Vaginal Area?
You have a small blood blister on your hymenal ring
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
First of all I want to thank you for supplying the photograph with your query.
The location of the purplish lesion in the photo is within the ring of tissue that makes up your hymen. A small polyp of tissue has become bruised somehow- and I want to propose a clinical scenario that may describe your situation-
Occasionally a pubic hair can wrap around a small piece of skin and effectively tie it off so it loses blood supply. This is why the skin looks purple.
If you do not cut the trapped hair, that little polyp of skin will grow more painful and eventually die.
If you can see the hair yourself and have a safe instrument to cut it, it would be an adequate treatment but if not you really should see a physician to examine it. I can see it in the photo... so I hope you are able to remove it and you will feel better right away.
Anyway I hope I was able to diagnose your problem and that my advice was helpful. If you need anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
Yes it should go away if you cut the hair
Detailed Answer:
Hello again, and sorry for the delayed reply.
It should go away if you cut the hair- but you need a very fine, pointed scissors to fit under the ring of hair and avoid injuring yourself. If possible- it would be more advisable to see a GYN doctor to treat it if you have any trouble seeing the hair clearly or finding a proper instrument to remove it yourself. You may find it easier to remove if you apply petroleum jelly or oil to lubricator the skin.
I wish you the best of luck in trying to treat this yourself, but I advice you to see a physician if you are unable to cut the hair safely.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance,
