What Causes Swelling Around A Bump Removal Site On Shin?
Question: Hi.. i am a 49 yr old female. yesterday morning a dermatologist removed a nickel sized "bump" from my right shin. i received about 10 stitches and it was wrapped with an ace bandage. when i woke up the area below the bandage and my entire foot are very swollen.. i rewrapped the ace bandage slightly loser but it is 1:00 now and no change.. i pretty much stay off it and keep it elevated .. but the swelling is nasty.. is this normal and any suggestions?

Generally swelling is not a normal thing after a bump removal. It may indicate an infection of the soft tissues or some fluid collection in the wound area (hematoma).
If you have also fever, the swollen area is hard, you should consult a surgeon.

Please go to ER. This looks like veins thrombosis. You definitely need blood work,
D-dimers checked and Dopplers ultrasound of leg veins. Heparine injections seems necessary.
