What Causes Swelling Around The Knee Caps While Taking Valsartan- Hctz?
Question: I have been taking Valsartan-hctz and have swelling around my knee caps. For years I have been taking Bystolic with no side effects. Can I stop the valsartan and just take the bystolic. Also , tonight I had a bad headache and took two low dose aspirins. Is this dangerous. Also I have leg cramps, only in my left thigh could this be caused by the Valsartan. In addition I have taken bystolic, with this medication. What can I do? I want to stop this Valsartan and just take the bystolic. Please advice.
Brief Answer:
Yes you can stop it
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
Bysystolic is nebivolol which is milder antihypertensive than valsartan-htcz.
So you must be having high bp values even on Tab Bysystolic and that is why your doctor has changed your drug.
By the way what is the dose of bysystolic you are taking and what is the bp readings??
So If you are having all these symptoms you and having high bp you can increase the dose of bysystolic and stop valsartan-hctz. Or you can change to Tab Telmisartan 40mg in the morning and Bysystolic in the evening.
Thanks and take care
