Brief Answer:
Can be tendonitis or arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling and pain in the hand and finger can be due to an inflammation of the tendon or arthritis or a direct injury to the area. If there is no history of injury then an inflammation is likely. Immobilizing the area and doing a hot compress can help. Do take an anti inflammatory pain killer after meals and consult an orthopedician for a physical examination.
I hope this answers your query.
