What Causes Swelling In Legs With Fluid Retention?

Question: Hi- I have swelling in both my legs - fluids in legs - that start in one knee where my knee gets twice its size then swelling down the leg to feet where I know longer see toes , like a club foot. The pain is so severe I cannot walk or even get up. When I have to walk then the other leg developes the same thing

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that from your history it looks like you are having fluid overload that is leading to this problem as you tell that water losing pills help you out in this situation .I will advise you to get a 2D ECHO , ECG , S. TSH levels , Serum protein and KFT done to look for the cause .

It does not look like synovitis swelling according to the history .But you will need to discuss these options with your treating doctor as he is the best judge of your situation as physical examination will be very important to determine the cause as it needs to be seen whether the edema is pitting or non pitting .
