What Causes Swelling In The Feet And Ankles, Numbness In All The Toes And Pain In The Soles Of The Feet?
different possible causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The swelling would contribute to the numbness that you are experiencing.
Swelling of both feet and/or ankles can have different possible causes.
Some of the more common causes include:
(1) Venous disease eg varicose veins or a previous history of a blood clot in the leg/legs
In persons with varicose veins or persons with a previous clot, the valves that are supposed to prevent pooling of blood in the feet/ankles, do not work as well as they should and blood pools
Elevating the feet at different points during the day or wearing compression stockings would help
(2) Side effect of medication- One of your medications, amlodipine, can cause swelling of the feet/ankles, you should consider discussing this with your doctor
(3) Liver or kidney or heart disease
There may a previous history of a problem in one or more of these areas. Heart disease is associated with shortness of breath or chest pain.
Blood tests can check the kidney and liver but an echo or other testing would be needed to assess the heart.
It would be best to see your doctor regarding these symptoms/signs so he or she can assess you to determine the most likely cause.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.
