What Causes Swelling In The Parotid Gland?

Question: I have a white dot on my left parotid duct and its swelling, tho not necessarily painful. Any advice?
The follow up question box won't let me upload a picture. The best way I can describe it is that the "flap" of the gland is enlarged to about 2x the original size. Its not huge but it certainly doesnt match the other one. If you look directly at it, the dot is on the outward side of the flap, in plain view. Its position is more forward on the flap, closer to the lips. Its about the size of a small pinhead. Hope this helps
