What Causes Swelling In The Tail Bone Area Of An Elderly Person?
Question: My 96-year-old mother has swelling in the area of her tailbone extending to the bottom of her buttocks. She also has a stage 1 pressure ulcer near her tailbone. Possible cause and treatment?

She needs to change position and lie in her sides every 2 hours. Application of talcum powder and spirit wash needs to be given to the skin. Site needs to lie on naked foam. To prevent sweat accumulation and skin maceration.
The pressure sore will. Need regular dressing and possibly a skin graft if not healing in few weeks. This call needs to be taken by a plastic surgeon.
