What Causes Swelling On Collar Bone?

Question: Thank you, I have considerable swelling on top of my collar bone and a toothache at the back of my mouth on the same side. I have to wait until Monday to see my dentist. I am hoping that it will not develop into an abscess and was wondering if the symptoms might be due to a wisdom tooth that hasn't enough room? if it does develop into an abscess, should I contact a doctor to get anti-biotics?

This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query .

Read your query , as you have swelling on collar bone with toothache yes these symptoms might be due to impacted wisdom tooth .

For this I will suggest you to consult your dentist on monday and go for investigation IOPA (intra oral periapical radiograph ) xray and if your xray reveals no space for eruption of wisdom tooth or it has infection (Pericoronal Abscess ) then discuss with your dentist and go for its Extraction (removal ) of tooth .

In meantime I will advice you to do XXXXXXX warm saline rinses two - three times a day.
- If you find symptoms of Abscess yes you should consult your doctor for medication (antibiotic) .
If i am your treating doctor for Abscess I will advise you medicine (Antibiotic) like Novamox lb 250 mg three time a day and for pain (analgesic ) like Ibugesic plus 500mg three times a day you can take this medication if you are not allergic to these medicine .
