What Causes Swelling On Foot After Bunionectomy?

Question: i had 6 month post-op right bunionectomy. The wound is heal. but i still have pitting edema around the foot and also discoloration. i soak my foot with warm water with epson salt for 20 minutes. after wards i apply weleeda massage oil. also i wear ted hose all day. i elevate myfoot when convenient. now i wear new balanceshoes.I am hydrated with tea, purfied water and diet drinks. my aic is normal. idon' take any diabetic,medicines. i aways check my blood sugars and they ar wwith in normal limits. now, help me please!thankyou dr. grief.

I have studied your case and I can assure you that swelling is not a matter of concern. It always take some time for swelling to disappear, some time
month. And as you told that you are having Diabetes also so that can also cause some swelling. Before I advice you anything I want to know little detail about your case.

2. Is there any pain in your surgical scar or itching?
3. Does swelling in foot stays all the time or only when your standing for long time?
