What Causes Swelling On Jawline After Using Hyaluronidase?
Question: I have been given a large dosage of hyaluronidase to eliminate the overfill of restylane on the nose to mouth line and a huge amount around my lips. The filler has gone but about an hour after the procedure i now have big swollen pockets on both the jawlines. At first the area was red with some bruising although I had not been injected in this area. This discolouration has now gone but I have developed jowls It feels like everything that was injected has travelled south. This was 3 days ago. What is it and will they go? Kind Regards and Many thanks

Hi and welcome to HCm
Detailed Answer:
These are usual side effects of hyluronidase when used for restlyane dissolving and it may take up to 7 days till injection are stabilize so the final outcome will change for sure. Subcutanoues hematoma and oedema develops almost always after such procedures and bruisings can be out of injection area since blood can be accumulated anywhere around this region. So I suggest to wait for few more days and then consult your doctor if there is any concern. Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards

The actual injection area, from the nose to the corners of the mouth is stabilized and all the filler has gone. The bruising has gone but I still have 2 areas , either side of my chin, on the jaw line that are swollen, or full of fluid. This area was not injected. What is it, why is it here? I am worried as all the articles I have read do not mention this as a side effect. I have developed large jowls.
Kind Regards

hi
Detailed Answer:
certain degree of swelling is normal effect of hyaluronidase treatment, but in some cases it can be caused by angioedema or allergy reaction. In every case it should subside, you can apply cold compresses, massage this area and take nonsteroid antiinflammatory medicines.
Rarely it can cause permanent changes and in this case you need to consult doctor who did first procedure and then plan further management with him.
