Brief Answer:
Most likely an abdominal hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mrs.XXXXXXX,

Thank you for posting your question here.

I have seen the attached photograph.

It is not very clear from the photograph if there is indeed any swelling or protrusion, because the protrusion seems to be a little diffuse and wide just above the belly button. From the photograph it is hard to say the exact location as well.

If it is in the midline, then I suppose it is most likely an abdominal hernia. (The stomach might be protruding through the weak upper abdominal muscles leading to that protrusion.

I am very much limited in my capacity to assist you much because of the inability to examine in person, and diagnosing abdominal lumps/hernia needs an examination in person as a minimum.

My suggestion to you is to consult a general surgeon (MS General Surgery) and get yourself examined to find out the exact nature of the swelling, that will give you peace of mind.

Hope this answers your query, please feel free to write back if you have additional concerns.

Warm regards

Brief Answer:
It is impossible to confirm with just looking

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX,

Thank you for writing back to me.

I have seen the additional photographs you have attached.

I am sorry to say that I will not be able to confirm anything by the photographs.

Yes, there is a slight protrusion above the umbilicus, but it could be just the fat that has accumulated or it can be due to the weak abdominal muscles (hernia).

If the doctor felt the lump/swelling by his/her hands and then did not comment anything about it, that means that it is not hernia, so that is a relief.

Ultrasound scans don't reveal much about the abdominal muscle weakness, and that protrusion seems more like just fat under the skin. But I can not confirm it without examining in person.

If there are no other symptoms, then I would advise you to wait and watch, meanwhile, abdominal muscle strengthening exercises(crunches) will definitely help. (both by decreasing the fat and by strengthening the muscles).

I hope this information will be of use to you, but I would like to tell you again that it is impossible to confirm the diagnosis of hernia or anything else without physical examination.

Wishing you both good health.

Warm regards
