Question: My husband is experiencing swelling, redness, soreness in his little toe on the right foot. He also has been complaining about his lips. They are sore, slightly swollen , tender to touch. His toe is also tender to touch. He has cardiac issues so I'm concerned about these developments.

Brief Answer:
Hello. I've read your post and I understand the situation

Detailed Answer:
As for the toe, assuming there was no trauma involved, it most likely is a gout attack for a high uric acid level in his blood. It can be treated with a medication called Colcrys for a few days along with an antiinflammatory medication like indomethacin.

In the matter of his lips, this sounds like cheilitis which is a kind of eczema that affects the lips, but it can also be an infection needing a course of antibiotics.

I don't think either of these problems is at all related to his cardiac condition.

He does need to see his doctor, though..

Please let me know if there's any further queries, i'll be glad to clarify..

Take Care
Regards
