What Causes Swollen Ankles After Having Coversyl?
Question: I have been on Pregabalin since 1977 to relieve me of nerve pain about six weeks ago i was prescribed a blood pressure tablet coversyl 5mg. I am a social drinker I enjoy a glass of wine but having a change in the weather i preferred a beer instead, I have had swelling my ankles which is worrying me. could you please let me know the cause and how best to fix it Thank you very much

Coversyl is one of many drugs that block a hormone that causes the circulatory system to squeeze (angio-TENSIN "vessel squeezing"). This lowers the force of blood through the kidney and less fluid might get out of them and more fluid Stays In You. Testable by checking kidnney function... should be 100-30% decreased on the drug. Normally not a big deal. It is treatable by taking a fluid pill with it. 100% of people have this drug do this action. Fewer show the effect.
On the other hand, a few people on lyrica (pregabalin) have swelling. The mechanism doesn't fit with the drugs effect (like an anti-epileptic). It does cause some people to gain weight. Getting fatter makes blood have a tough time getting back out of the legs so getting fatter makes for edema.
If you got fatter, then pregabalin is involved. If your kidney function is not identical to what it was before starting coversyl, then that is what it was.
There is a fundatmental question of causality that makes this question theoretically impossible to answer. BUT, if you have many other signs evincing a particular drug that all lead from taking the drug TO the edema... drug.... fat... edema ...... or drug...kidney...edema, then, you can sorta/kinda make a good case for causation.
