Question: I have been having my hands including my wrists and feets swollen for three days. It happened suddently and I have never experienced something like this before

It can be something among following:

1) Gout.
2) Autoimmune disease.
3) Increased uric acid level due to high protein intake.
4) Drug causing this.


I would suggest you to so following things.

1) Stop any new drug if started.
2) Use tablet Ibuprufen 400mg thrice a day.
3) Dont take high protein and pulses for some days.
4) Take rest.
5) Icing of swollen areas will help.
6) Rub diclifenac or Ibuprofen gel on swollen parts.
7) Meet your doctor as soon as possible to discuss causes which are of concern. He may want to run some tests to determine the cause.

this is very strange because No. 1 it started suddenly, No. 2 I am vegan, no meat no dairies no cheese... I am not taking any medication neither

Hello thanks for writing back,

In vaggies it may occur with some pulses high in protein or may be this is some inflammation of joints. I told you how you can get symptomatic relief in my previous response, but one has to look for the reason of the problem.

For this I will suggest you to visit your doctor and I believe he would run some tests to see the cause , blook works like complete blood counts, uric acid levels, RA factor and antibody levels can help determining the possible cause
of this issue.

The according to the cause, specific treatment can be done. There doesn't seem to be anything which you should be concerned about much but this has to be followed closely.
