Question: My left knee is severely swollen for no good reason. I can barely bend it and I'm worried I may have an infection in my implant. My implant was done in 2009

Brief Answer:
Can be infected.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The severely swollen knee with no history of injury to the knee after an implant can be due to an infection in the area. A physical examination and examination of the aspirated fluid will help in the proper diagnosis.
Till then give rest to the knee and avoid weight bearing on the leg. Taking a mild pain killer like ibuprofen after the meals will help in temporary pain relief.
I hope this answers your query.
