What Causes Swollen Left Rib Bone And Inflated Muscle?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Nov 2014
Question: My second left rib bone from the top is swollen and there it feels like a muscle is inflated below it. It first happened 2 months ago and now again. It stayed for a week the first time. My second rib bone is literally coming out around 1 cm.

I googled it and It seems to be costochondritis. It happened as I was going through a very rough and stressful times, and it almost happened instantly.. like a muscle getting ripped.

I have been smoking for 3 years, but I stopped because this thing scared me.

Brief Answer:
Yes I agree to this.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that by history I also think that it is costochondritis . Tietze costochondritis is a possibilIty .

It generally subsides without any residual issues but you should take antiinflammatory for the same . I will suggest you to take etoricoxib 90 mg once after food for 3-5 days and see the response .

If it does not subside further evaluation is needed.

Take care.

Ok so it is actually better after the first pill @

I was afraid it was cancer i have to stop smoking regardless!

I have to ask you this too, around the same time that I felt this tightness under my rib, my gag reflex got somehow heightened like my body wants to get rid of something probably the effects of smoking? It is still as it is and I wonder if its corelated to my chest or not and what to do about it.

Thank you very much

Dear Sir,

Thank you for reverting back.

When any kind of inflammation is going on in the body it throws your body system off track. So people generally experience this kind of feelings .

I think it will subside on its own . I will suggest you to take a Pantocid 40 mg one tablet before breakfast till you are taking the antiinflammatory tablet . It will help you with this feeling .
