Question: I can feel changes in my body and health. I have HB pressure, Diabetes 2, had a health issue last year and was hospitalized due to had severe case of bronchitis for 3-4 weeks and lost 15-20lbs. I was severely dehydrated and my kidneys were crashing. Blood sugar was 26. In hosp for 3 days and released. My body was literally shutting down. On the road to mending the doctors took me off most of my meds (Attenolol, Metformin, Bydurian, Glimerpride, Simivastatin, and Prilosec) due to my AC1 was now 6.4 from 11.3 before and I lost about 40 lbs. And after they did extensive testing for pancreatic and colon cancer which was negative. It has been almost a year and the doctors just took me off those meds in XXXXXXX 2016. I am still on Lisinopril, Lassix and Tricor other than a multivitamin and Vitamin D. Recently I have noticed my legs and feet were swelling more frequently, feeling bloated with excessive flatulence, weight gain (gained 20lbs in the last 2 months), fatigue, lack of energy and losing hair in really large clumps when I wash it. Could this be another reaction to my body/health due to removing my prescribed medications? What is going on with my body and do you have any advice for me? Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Have you checked you thyroid?

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I went through your query and understood your problem.
Metformin and glim are diabetic drugs hence they must have been removed as your A1c has come to very good levels.
You mentiomed above that your kidneys were crashing? Was the creatinine rising?
Right now you are taking lasix which is diuretic and inspite of that you have swelling on legs and you have gained weight..
Your other symptoms like gastric upset, loss of hairs go more with hypothyroidism which is quite common in females and is more common as age advances.
There is no medication atopping of which must have caused these problems to you. Hence I am thinking more in terms of hypothyroidism.
Have you checked your thyroid functions? If yes when was it? And what were the values if you had checked.
Kindly answer me above question and also about creatinine. Also let me know whether recently your urine output has decreased or same?
Awaiting your answers.
Thank you
