What Causes Swollen Painful Lymph Node In The Left Groin Area?
Question: I have a swollen lymph node in the left groin area and soreness surrounding. Following a night of mild fever my penis became red, somewhat tender to touch and puffy, especially in the loose skin area below the head of my penis. It resembles one of those thick, wide brimmed middle eastern hats. What could be the cause? What should the treatment be?
Brief Answer:
Must be local infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
In view of details, this looks like a local bacterial infection, less likely to be a STD(though not entirely ruled out).
Since you had fever you will need oral antibiotics with local antiseptic cream applied over affected area.
Ideal would be to let GP have a look at it.
Meanwhile keep the area clean and dont keep foreskin pulled back the over head of penis.
Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards

When you mention local bacterial infection, could it be mrsa staph and if untreated with antibiotics how serious can it get? I am still waiting results of urine test. Also, the Resolve Plus 10 I was perscrribed by teh GP has had no positive effect on the enlarged penis skin below the head.
Brief Answer:
MRSA not common in this region.
Detailed Answer:
MRSA not common in this region nor symptoms are specifically indicative of MRSA staph.
If you are not planning to take oral antibiotics, still infection can get cleared with local antibiotic cream, only in that case keep watch on fever. If you get fever you will need oral medications.
