What Causes Swollen Red Spot On Scalp?

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Jun 2015
Question: Hello Doctor, I have a red spot on my scalp for about 6 months. It is about the size of a pencil eraser and is dark red with king of a rough pebbly raised center. It sometimes hurts a little and itches but has not bled. I have no history of skin cancer. I have a couple of pulmonary nodules, 4 and 8 mm. I smoked about a pack of day for about 40 years. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Most commonly formed swelling on scalp is termed as "Sebaceous cyst". It possess no harm to body. If it causes problem to patient then surgical excision under local anesthesia is usually done. I would suggest you to visit hospital & get an appointment for a general surgeon. He will examine it and confirm the diagnosis. later on you can decide treatment option with him as well.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
