Question: 24 Year old 6' 220LBS. Slightly overweight but otherwise healthy male with no medical problems. I've noticed that my superficial dorsal vein ( I think that is what it's called from internet research .. BIG main vein on the shaft of the penis running from the base to the tip ) is swollen and protruding on my penis both flaccid and erect. When flaccid, it curves and twists on top of itself. When erect it doesn't 'overlap' on itself, but it does take some pretty hard turns before turning down before the head. It's been like this for the last couple of weeks, although I do remember always having a fairly large vein. Just not knotted up looking. What should I do, are there any home remedies to do or try before seeking medical advice?
Brief Answer:
Engorged Penile vein, Needs clinical correlation
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking XXXX
Dorsal penile veins vary in their thickness and engorgement. It matters only when their is some clinical complaint like trauma or fracture of penile shaft or Priapism. If none of that is bothering you i am sure you got nothing to worry about. Penile foreskin gets adhered to the shaft in sexually active age due to repetitive frictions and rubbings of penile shafts. But every thing needs to be considered a reason to seek help if there is some clinical correlation. If the symptoms are not there or any issue which lead to performance derangements or discomforts, then i am sure you need not to worry about.
You can still seek a sex therapist or a cosmetic surgeon or a vascular surgeons to see if their is any thing to be on the safer road. Rest your penis looks healthy. I would advise a circumcision if uncircumcised, as that would lessen the trouble by reducing preputial adhesions and vascular drainage blockages.
I hope it helps. Take good care and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Thanks for the reply, that helps ease my concerns. I think that I will just continue to try to monitor the vein. It's not causing any pain, discomfort or performance problems. Are there any supplements anything that would decrease the engorgement or reduce? I guess I'm not as concerned so much about the size as much as I don't like the way it overlaps/knots/turns on itself. If there is any home remedies to try to reduce it, I think I'd like to try. Also, if I do decide that I want to be checked, who would be the type of doctor to see? I'm not so much worried about cosmetics as I am worried about flow. Family doctor, urologist?
Brief Answer:
Vascular specialist , Tips but avoid selftreatment
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking again!
i am happy your nerves got soothed. Monitoring is a good option. You can apply topical anti inflammatory creams over the penile shaft to see if that reduces it. Avoid coitus or any penile rubbing for a week. See if it gets resolved. And in future if you intend to seek a doctor it would be a vascular specialist whether endovascular or any specialist who deals with vasculature and drainage of vessels. Dont try any thing at home more than this. You can apply small pressures episodically by your fist towards base and give scrotum some support and avoid any valsalva manoeuvres and breath holding spells or any thing that causes increased abdominal pressures like coughing straining and squatting positions.
I hope it helps. Close the discussion please if thats it.
May the odds be ever in your favour.
