What Causes Tender And Swollen Adam's Apple In A Marijuana User?
several possibliites
Detailed Answer:
I cannnot definitely diagnose or treat wtihout being there.... however some genral information.
The structures of the throat and lung can ...well.....get bent out of shape.
Mildest is just that, a strain or a cold. I'mm not sure there is a worst case, because all the possibilites, even those that require surgery, are not terrible.
There are spaces between lung and chest, between the throat and surrounding tissue. The areas can get pulled like any muscle (and gets better in a day or so like any other muscle) AND....you can also have an area pop. A punctured lung has occurred in this context. Minor punctures heal themselves, progressive difficulty breathing means it's an emergency. Doubtful in this case. The muscles around the throat can weaken giving a very very tiny hernia. (ZENKER'S DIVERTICULUM... sorry, not in a spot where I can link to it). This is quite possible, non-life-threatening, and needs surgery to fix it.
Thank-you for your response. Today I have done 100 push ups, practiced Tae Kwon Do, walked three miles, and the symptoms are no worse save for some aggravated tightness in my chest from the push ups ? If I had punctured or herniated my lung or throat muscles would that activity been possible with such little effect? Thanks
yes, absolutely
Detailed Answer:
I can't say why, but spontaneous pneumothorax can occur with just straining and not ..say... a car accident.
The outpouching of the throat muscles, I've seen pretty commonly. On the one hand it occurs without ANY trauma or strain. On the other hand, it's been mostly in old people.
Oh, another possibility occurred to me. Some people (me for one) feel things that are happening at the BASE of the lung at other places (between shoulder blades for me, but arm, and throat are very common also). This can occur in HIATAL HERNIA. There's at least 10% of the population that has this even without anything more than obesity as the strain. Again, not very dangerous.
