Posted on Thu, 8 Sep 2016
Question: My son 1.5 years old touched hot iron and got blisters on his fingers due to burn. We visited the doctor he asked us not to rupture them and keep them clean and apply megaheal 3 times a day. My son does not appear to be in pain due to them and does not cry while playing with that hand. the blisters were white in color but today morning 2 bigger ones have them turned red. Are these healing ? Or they have developed some pus? We have an appintment of tomorrow evening. should i take him to ER or can wait? Pics included.

Brief Answer:
The blisters have developed pus , but healing

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I have seen the pictures. You are right in sensing that they have developed pus. I agree with you. But by taking into consideration the redness alone we cannot affirmatively say that infection is increasing.

If he doesn't have fever and is otherwise normal and active, you can wait till tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
They will rupture by themselves during washing or bath

Detailed Answer:
Hi... They will rupture by themselves during washing or bath. Even after rupture they will require only Megaheal or Silvarex ointment.

But if the redness is increasing or if the kid develops high fever, then oral antibiotics like AMOXICILLIN CLAVULENATE may be required in view of suspected secondary bacterial infection.
